About the Designers
Jon Brimus
From the artistic mind of a designer, function often takes a back seat to form. Our featured designer, Jon Brimus, realizes the importance of both qualities and his designs are peerless in the orchestration of a truly harmonious union of the two.
Jons nine years as the in-house designer for two of the industries most exclusive manufacturers have given him the opportunity to create the most exquisite and cutting edge modular homes in the country. At the same time his practical hands on modular construction experience enables him to produce modular friendly homes that many of todays leading designers and architects can't emulate.
Although Jon get's well paid for his work, in the end engaging him is quite a bargain. In comparison to a traditional architect, Jon's design fees are modest because he does not need to do unnecessary engineering work that would be done over by the factory anyway. He may also save his clients money by designing homes that are "modular-friendly" and adhere to factory construction and transportation constraints.
Jons award winning designs have been featured in numerous publications and periodicals and most recently showcased in the upcoming book Modular Mansions by Sheri Koones. You can see several samples of his work in this section of our web site.
My mission is to raise the bar for the modular home design. This is done not only through my expanding portfolio, but also by creating spectacular custom homes that conform to the style, function, and budgetary constraints of my clients. Jon Brimus
Hector V. Munoz-Baras, AIA
Hector's has designed an exceptional series for the Modular Center's "Masterpiece Collection". The home designs in this exclusive series adhere to what he refers to as a "Figurative Modern" idiom. "Figurative Moderism" is the application of traditional details and natural materials to modern space. Modern space contains such key elements as overlapping spaces, eroded spaces and volumes placed in unique juxtapositions to each other; not only is the space apparent in plan, but in its three dimensionality.
Hector Munoz-Baras is the founder and principal of v.baras ARCHITECTS, v.baras DESIGNS and v.baras STUDIO. Although he has a diversified practice, Hector skillfully integrates quality design with the practical aspects of various types of spaces. The organic modernism of the Finnish architect, Alvar Aalto has been a major architectural and design influence for Hector over the years. In v.baras STUDIO, Hector focuses on high-end custom residential and commercial projects where his unique modernism is given full expression.
Hector has an undergraduate degree in Interior Design and a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He maintains offices in New Jersey, New York and Florida and is licensed in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Florida with several other states pending.
With over two decades of residential and commercial design experience, v.baras ARCHITECTS' larger projects includes boutique hotels, dormitories, apartment buildings, restaurants, offices, warehouses and environmental projects. The firm is recognized by the modular building community as design experts in the commercial and high-end residential markets.
Hector's most personally satisfying work as an architect is with residential projects. Each home presents the challenge of combining shelter with the client's expression of individuality. The ideal client appreciates the value of a high design aesthetic in conjunction with functionality. This series of homes designed for the "Masterpiece Collection" is for the discriminating client with an appreciation of unique spaces in a comfortably familiar vernacular.

With a background in classical architectural design and historic restoration and as a professional member of AIBD (American Institute of Building Designers) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association), his residential modular designs have been called "innovative", "out-of-the-box", and "pushing the envelope" by his peers in the modular industry and by clients with whom he has worked in designing their homes.
Bill brings a dual prospective of designing buildings that reflect exceptional design execution and accurate architectural fenestration for the exterior of the structure and well thought-out floor plans and interior detailing.
